Whipped Greek Yogurt
Now there is whipped yogurt you can buy at the grocery store, but it is always filled with so much added sugar I never would buy it even though it is amazing. So I had never thought of making it at home until I saw my friend Danielle from Project Meal Plan make Homemade Whipped Greek Yogurt and I thought it was the most brilliant thing ever.
So when my friends over at Barlean’s challenged me to make something with with their Seriously Delicious CBD Lemon Drop Hemp Oil, I instantly thought it would be the perfect match…
And guess what?
It is! (was…)
NOTE: Update in spring of 2023 Barlean’s appears to no longer carry the Lemon Drop Flavor of their CBD Hemp Oil. It was perfect in this recipe but alas we must move on...
Of course you can make this by leaving out the Lemon Drop CBD, it is still equally as delicious, I promise!
If you are looking for some added benefits and this works even if you have young children I also used Barlean’s Omega Pals Lemonade Fish Oil instead to help them get a healthy dose of Omega-3’s in for the day! This product still is available.
So how do you make Whipped Greek Yogurt?
It’s quite easy! For this recipe you will need a stand mixer or an electric handheld mixer, the mixer will do all the hard work and get the greek yogurt light and airy fast!
To make the lemon whipped greek yogurt you will start with one whole lemon.
Zest the lemon into bowl of stand mixer (or large bowl with handheld mixer).
Cut the lemon in half and juice half of the lemon into the bowl. The amount of juice should be roughly 2 tablespoons. Set aside other half for another use (make yourself a glass of ice cold lemon water).
Next add greek yogurt, honey, heavy whipping cream, and the lemon drop CBD into the stand mixer.
With whisk attachment start stand mixer on low for about 10 to 15 seconds to prevent too much splashing while the ingredients mix together.
Slowly turn mixer to medium-high level (8 on a kitchen-aid). Continue to whisk for several minutes until peaks start to form in the yogurt, aka until the yogurt is fluffy and airy.
Transfer your lemon whipped greek yogurt to bowls. Best served topped with a handful of fresh berries.

Note: This recipe originally used Barlean's Lemon Drop CBD Hemp Oil. I am updating this recipe by removing it because this product no longer appears to be available for purchase. The original recipe called for 1 teaspoon Barlean's Lemon Drop CBD Hemp Oil. (I promise the recipe is still amazing without it)

Mix together 1 tablespoon of yogurt and 2 to 3 drops of lemon juice in a small bowl. For extra moisture and hydration, add 1 teaspoon of honey. Spread the mask over your face, and wait 10 to 15 minutes. Wash the mask off using warm water, then splash your face with cool water to tighten your pores.
Fresh Lemon Juice - Lemon juice has a fairly mild lemon flavor — mostly what it adds to this sauce is a fresh, acidic flavor and a subtle lemon flavor. It also helps thin the Greek yogurt into a smooth sauce. Fresh Lemon Zest - Lemon zest is what really adds the bright lemon flavor to this sauce.
All you need to do is add a few tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar to the yogurt and stir it until the yogurt has thickened. The acid in the lemon juice or vinegar will cause the yogurt to thicken and separate, just like sour cream would.
Can yogurt be whipped without using cream? Yes; you can still make whipped yogurt without using additional heavy cream, but the end result won't hold its shape as well as a heavy cream and yogurt combination will. Just make sure you start with whole milk or low fat Greek yogurt for best results.
When you use yogurt as a face mask, you help reduce blemishes and your skin glows soon after! Just mix yogurt with lemon juice and apply on blemishes or affected areas. After 15 minutes from the application, rinse off with warm water, and watch your face radiate!
Combine yogurt and honey in a small dish (including lemon juice, if desired). Apply to face with fingertips or a wide brush. Leave on your face for 15 minutes.
What's more, Greek yogurt is lower in calories and fat and higher in protein than full-fat sour cream. Full-fat Greek yogurt contains 97 calories, 5 grams (g) of fat, and 9 g of protein per 3.5 ounces (oz.), or 100 g.
No new substances are produced; therefore, no chemical change occurred. Sometimes combining two liquids, such as lemon juice and milk, can produce a curd- like solid. The acid in the lemon juice changes the pH of the milk. This causes proteins in the milk to clump together, creating curds.
Take lukewarm milk in a bowl and squeeze out juice of half a lemon into the milk.Give a gentle stir and cover the bowl with a lid.Wrap it with a cotton cloth and set it aside for 12 hours. Wrapping the bowl with a cloth will keep the bowl warm for longer.
When you take away the whey and most of the liquid, Greek yogurt becomes thicker and creamier in texture. This also makes its flavor more concentrated, explaining why it has that tangy, almost sour taste compared to regular yogurt!
Full-fat Greek yogurt will offer the closest approximation of sour cream's flavor and texture, and can be used as a one-to-one replacement for sour cream. If you'd like, you can stir some heavy cream into any percentage of Greek yogurt to give it a somewhat richer body and higher fat content.
Combine Greek yogurt, cream, sweetener, rosewater or vanilla, and a pinch of salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. Mix at low speed to start, then increase to high and whip until mixture is thick and stiff, about 5 minutes.
When you really need to thicken a dish, Greek yogurt gets the job done — in fact, it's much thicker than heavy cream. Combine equal parts Greek yogurt and milk for a substitute closer to heavy cream's thickness. Be sure to add it while your dish is off the heat to avoid curdling, and don't use it for whipping.
Lemon is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. It may help to lighten up the dark spots on your skin. However, lemon juice may cause an allergic reaction when you apply it to your skin as it is acidic. Hence you can use lemon juice with other mediators such as yoghurt and honey.
Lemon's antibacterial properties help reduce the appearance of blemishes to maintain flawless skin. It also has bleaching qualities which will lighten and brighten your skin. Add 1 tsp of lemon juice to a tablespoon of curd. Apply it on your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Mix one spoon of honey, one spoon of milk powder and one spoon lemon juice in a bowl. Now apply this pack after washing your face and after 15-20 minutes wash it off with water.
Packed with vitamin C, the humble lemon's benefits go a long, long way, beyond just building your immunity. Squeeze a lemon and apply it on your skin to cure pimple marks or just mix it with some natural ingredients like honey, yogurt or chickpea to get rid of acne that often leaves unsightly scars on the face.
